  • Kansas Division of the Child Advocate

    The mission of the Kansas Division of the Child Advocate (KDCA) is to safeguard that all Kansas children, who have the right to be cherished and the opportunity to thrive, are safe from abuse, neglect, and harm by providing independent oversight and increased accountability of our State child welfare services, improving delivery and deepening confidence in the child welfare system. KDCA completes an impartial, independent review of Kansas child welfare policies, procedures, and practices, including an independent investigation and evaluation of concerns voiced by children, families, and other individuals. 

  • Kansas Family Advisory Network

    Kansas Family Advisory Network (KFAN) provides support, education, advocacy and training to at-risk families interacting with the foster care system or child welfare system. KFAN promotes restoration of families through engagement and collaboration between birth parents, foster families, relatives, child welfare services, law enforcement, court services, and more.

  • Kansas Legal Services

    Kansas Legal Services, a statewide non-profit corporation, is devoted to helping Kansans meet their needs through the provision of important legal and mediation services. KLS is legal aid in Kansas, providing equal access to justice to Kansans with low incomes. Kansas Legal Services offers information and help with a variety of issues such as: discrimination, employment, guardianship, housing, youth justice, and more.

  • Child Nutrition Programs

    Child Nutrition Programs—including School Nutrition Programs, Summer Food Service Program (SFSP), and more—are critical to reducing hunger in Kansas. Child Nutrition Programs are administered at the state-level by Kansas State Department of Education Child Nutrition & Wellness. SFSP ensures kids have access to healthy, free meals when schools are closed, serving millions of meals each year to Kansas youth.

  • Harvesters—The Community Food Network, the Kansas Food Bank, and Second Harvest Community Food Bank serve communities, local food banks, and pantries across Kansas. As a part of Feeding America’s nationwide network of food banks, these organizations help Kansans access healthy food every day. Find your local food bank or pantry to receive support.

  • Kansas Bar Association

    The Kansas Bar Association (KBA) is the largest organization in the state devoted to advancing the practice of law and improving the legal system in Kansas. If you do not qualify for legal aid, you can fill out a request form on the KBA website for a referral to a Kansas attorney.

    Voting is an important way we can show up for our communities. The Secretary of State is Kansas’s chief elections official and is responsible for the administration of all state and national elections in Kansas.
